On Failure

Some people say failure’s not an option. I get where they’re coming from, but I beg to differ.

Failure is always an option. Not one you strive for, but it’s always an option.

That doesn’t sound very positive, does it?

Hear me out. Maybe failure isn’t the worst thing in the world.

Failure gives you the opportunity to learn how to pick yourself up. To learn how to keep going. To grow.

Failure can make you stronger. Even in weight training, you sometimes lift to failure to get stronger, right?

If you failed, that means you tried. If you failed, that means you can try again.

Maybe failure is the best thing that could’ve happened. Maybe it will make way for something better. Maybe it will help you figure out a better way.

Success can be motivating. But failure can be, too.

If you feel like you’ve failed at some point today, this week, this month, this year—learn from it. Be gentle with yourself. Try to see the good.

Fail well. And keep. Moving. Forward.
