I’ve been thinking a lot about this quote I saw from Bob Goff:
“What’s simple isn’t always easy, what’s easy doesn’t always last.”
This whole healthy living thing–it’s not complicated. It’s actually quite simple.
Eat well. Exercise. Take care of yourself.
While there’s nuances and details and science behind those statements, the bottom line is, it’s not complicated.
It’s simple.
But it’s not easy.
It’s not easy when you’ve had a stressful, emotionally taxing week and all you want to do is give in to your cravings.
It’s not easy when you’re home late and up early and the last thing you want to do is hit the gym.
It’s not easy to plan ahead and be prepared, or continually push and challenge your body.
It’s easier to give up.
It’s easier to give in.
But when did the easy road ever take you anywhere meaningful?
When did the easy way out produce any real, lasting results?
When did the easier way amount to anything rewarding?
The path to a healthy life is simple. But it isn’t easy.
The difficult road leads to a beautiful destination.
The challenges produce change.
The tough things transform you.
The easy road might feel like it takes you somewhere. But the long, hard road takes you further.
Stick with it. You might be surprised where you end up.
